Beginning its 22nd year, the Child Development Center will offer a quality after school program for children in pre-kindergarten through 5th grade. The program, Be Cool After School, is directed by Mr.William Matheny, in his first year as school age coordinator. Following the Little Rock School District calendar, the Center will begin picking up students from area public and private schools the first day of school. Children are assigned classrooms according to their grade with an experienced "counselor". The after school curriculum provides for "choices" of activities daily, plus play on our second floor fresh-air gymnasium, a USDA approved snack, homework room and other enrichment options. Full care is provided to enrolled families for teacher workdays, Christmas and spring break and inclement weather. Schools that are currently on the "pick up" list include Gibbs, Washington, Williams, Forest Park, Martin Luther King, Booker, Carver, Rockefeller, St. Edwards, Pulaski Heights, and Fair Park.
